VII We are the lizards, or geckoes, by name.
To the farmer we’re useful, we’re charming, we’re tame.
Over the floors, walls and roof beams we roam,
Of every tropical home sweet home.
For us, cockroaches are scrumptious to eat.
Almost as tasty as caterpillar meat.

It all seemed too good
to be true – and it was.
